Newcomers Club of Howard County was created and exists for the friendship and fellowship of women new to Howard County.  All residents of Howard County, Maryland, regardless of time of residency, are invited to join us!

Dear Newcomers,

I hope your 2012's are starting off better than mine. I'm missing all of January Newcomer events because of a messy situation putting my mother-in-law in a nursing home. I hope to be back in February, but probably have to return to CA. I miss seeing you at events.  Newcomers is a source of many of my friends, as I hope it is for you.  

The nominating committee has been formed. See details in this newsletter. I just want to emphasize that anyone interested in becoming an officer should make her wishes known to the committee. We need to get some fresh blood in leadership positions! Let me know if you want to be a committee chair.

I wish the mild winter we're having so far continues. I like snow, but not the mess it makes with transportation.  I'm from Illinois and grew up driving in snow, but I don't think much of Maryland drivers in bad weather (or even in good.) Have romantic Valentine's days and I hope that I'll see you in February.

General Meeting, FEB 16TH

The Thursday, February 16th General Meeting will be at TGI Fridays in the private room from 11:30 – 2 PM.  We will order from the menu and have separate checks, so please be on time as food won’t be made in advance and being late will slow things down.

Our speaker will be Marcie Lovett, who is a professional organizer and will speak about de-cluttering your home.  She will also offer her book for sale.  Be prepared with questions for Marcie and cash/check if you wish to buy her book.

RSVP to Jennifer by February 9th if you plan to come.  We cannot accept walk-ins and Jennifer has to provide the number of participants to the restaurant in advance.  RSVPs received after February 9 may not be accepted. We look forward to seeing you there!
